The Fashion Affair

Lights, camera, and RUNWAY as Detroit's hottest designers launched their latest fashions at The Autumn Fashion Affair. Blazing music and couture fashions were intertwined under one lavish roof at the ultra-sexy Prive Lounge in downtown Detroit.
The evening featured designers Mark England and Merica Patterson, which showcased quite an impressive runway presentation making this particular evening an extravaganza. The night kicked off with a posh, ritzy reception which served top-shelf champagne to the exclusive VIP section.
Eager fashion enthusiasts sat front row, along the side of the runaway to watch models strut the red carpet to the sounds of camera shutters from photographers that lined up for that perfect shot. The DJ kept you on the edge of your seat - driving the pulse of the show.
Patterson opened the show with an electrifying ensemble. This pastel pink, spaghetti strap, pleated evening gown, grasped the attention of many and had everyone saying, "Oh my god". Her choice of fabrics and dramatic cuts really gave a whole new meaning to Detroit nightlife. She further stunned the crowd with the Japanese kimono-inspired black and gold dress that was simply a masterpiece.
England was next to take the stage with his breathtaking collection. His line was very chic and displayed an array of contemporary men and women designs. He often highlighted his pieces with a signature gray scarf to add the lasting impression.
Succeeding the show, this upscale and sophisticated lounge quickly converted to a standard dance club. Also after the show, Detroit Fashion Pages was able to catch up with one of Detroit's youngest designers. She calls herself Merica the Beautiful or simply Merica Patterson. This 22 year old designer got her initial start sewing by the age of 13. Strong fashion influences include the fabulous diva, Kimora Lee. Patterson describes her line, Merica Designs, as "classy with a tad bit of flash." Not only can this fashionista design a killer ensemble, but she is also an intellectual. With her Bachelor's in Business Adminstration, Master's in Marketing, and working towards a Doctorate's, she has a well-grounded future ahead of her.
Although the designers and models were the main attraction, you can't forget about the behind-the-scenes people. This event's successful outcome would not have been possible without the entertainment promotions firm, Executive Productions.

Executive Productions, LLC presented The Autumn Fashion Affair on Nov. 24, 2007 at one of Detroit's premier nightspots, the Prive Lounge .
The fashion show, which was hosted by promoters Brandon A. Jessup, Richard J. Peterson and Donnell R. White, featured native Detroit designers Mark England and Merica Patterson. The popular fashion designers unveiled their fall collections to a group of young professionals.
England, a 20-year fashion industry veteran described his men's custom business suits as "... British and French cuts, which [are] different from the traditional Italian cuts and American cuts. It just gives you a better look, a cleaner look."
The affair was 22-year-old Patterson's fashion debut. Designing since the age of 13, she explained, "The thing that is kind of catchy about [my line], is I always have some type of bling on it... a little flashy but as you can see, still classy."
